Debtor Tracing

Are you having difficulty tracing a debtor? By providing just a few details, we can deliver an efficient tracing service through our trusted network of tracing partners.

When it comes to lost debt, many businesses either write it off or waste valuable time and money trying to locate debtors, often with limited success. By instructing Miller James to act on your behalf, we can save your company time, money and effort, helping to locate your debtors and recover your debt more efficiently, whilst leaving you free to focus on your business.

What Is Debtor Tracing?

Debtor tracing is the term used to refer to the process of locating an individual or business (debtor) who owes your business money.

This task is normally undertaken by a dedicated 'tracing agency', such as ourselves, on behalf of your business.

Debtor tracing can be required for a number of reasons:

A debtor has deliberately changed address without paying their debt to your business, leaving you with no way to locate the debtor and no means of contacting them.
The debtor may be unaware of their debt and have relocated without providing a forwarding address or updated contact details.
The debtor has ceased trading or changed company details.
The debtor has died, and the creditor may need to contact the executor or next-of-kin in order to pursue the outstanding balance through the estate.

What Is The Process?

At Miller James, we use a network of tracing partners and specialist databases to help identify a debtor’s current address and contact details. Our process is straightforward and designed to minimise disruption to your business.

Firstly, you would provide us with any key information you have available to you about the debtor. This can include the debtor’s name, last known address, email address, phone number and date of birth. Other helpful details might include business trading names, details of their vehicle and any social media presence they may have.

Based on these details, we will instruct our trusted tracing partners to carry out a comprehensive search, using a range of databases and data sources. These databases can help identify a debtor’s current address and contact details, even when the information you originally provided is out of date.

Following this, we will provide you with the most up-to-date information available, helping to re-establish communication with the debtor. Clients will then have the option to seek repayment of the debt directly, or instruct us to recover the debt on your behalf.
